Dem Bones Gonna Walk Around.

Seldom have I been THIS excited for a new show.  If anything pushes me to obtain cable so that I may watch, this may be it - the eagerly anticipated new series by AMC called The Walking Dead.  

The effects are, from what I can see, ever so super fantastic, complete with half-gone crawling zombie and little-girl-with-teddy-bear-power walking in that ever-so-freaky-stop-motion-ish-jerky-all-the-better-to-eat-you-with walk.  I'm also intrigued by the music.  Premiers on Halloween!  Do you have cable?  Can I come over?  And will you hold me after?

Also I have to give a shout out to the new zombie book I just read called The Reapers Are the Angels, by Alden Bell.  In fact, I also just stumbled across this book review, which is ever so succinct, I don't think I can say it better!  I picked it up on a whim because the cover drew me in, and on page two(?), I was hooked when our heroine/tormented-15-year-old survivalist was joking around with a jaw-less zombie who'd washed up in the beach by her no-longer-safe lighthouse.  I am completely inspired - not only to write more, but perhaps to get one of these for my zombie apocalypse preparedness kit.  Booyah.

What good would be all of my bus lamentations if you couldn't see it HERE for yourself.  Thank you Nate, for introducing me to Dee, just when I thought I was the only one.  

OH and speaking of the bus, one more thing.  Yes, you, you uber-gay-bookbag-wearing (not that there's anything wrong with that) super annoying kid who always has to sit sideways across two seats to talk to your classmate... I will ALWAYS sit next to you.  This means I will ask you to move every.  Single.  Morning.  Keep it up asshole, and one of these days, instead of asking you to move, I may just sit on your lap.  Now there are a lot of guys on the bus who I'm sure would be thrilled with that, but I KNOW you aren't one of them.  Can't wait.  Snoochie boochies, loverboy.

Come and Play, Everything's A-OK.

In honor of the 40th Anniversary of Sesame Street, all week long our office has been posting random facts about Sesame Street and the Muppets.  Do you remember the piano playing muppet that would get frustrated and bang his head against the keys?  Apparently they had to cut him from the show because kids at home were doing the same thing.  I do believe that's one of the funniest things I've ever heard.

Because sometimes, you just have to punch a turkey leg.

So JW and I are addicted to Man vs. Food.  Ever watch that show?  Between the Travel Channel and the Food Network, I get to experience everything I can't [afford to] do: (a) jet off to Europe on a whim (b) eat all the gourmet food I want to and never gain weight (thank YOU Giada) and (c) work for Charm City Cakes.  On M vs. F Adam travels all around the U.S., eats food at all sorts of places and engages in eating contests. Every guy I know is thinking, why don't I have this job?  It's right up there with the guys who test Madden Football for a living.  Recently we watched Adam attempt to take down 15 milkshakes in a half-hour.  Just as I was asking JW, "What happens if he actually get si--"  and all of a sudden the screen read "CENSORED" and when it came back on, he was cradling a bucket.  Oh Adam.  15 shakes is too many.

Recently we watched the Portland and Seattle episodes  of the show - did you know you can get married at Voodoo Donuts?  That's right ladies, step on in, they pull one of those homeless fellows off the street and BLAM, you're married.  There also seem to be a lot of pirates that dine out in Portland.  In Seattle, Adam went to Red Mill Burgers.  World-famous onion rings.  Burgers so good they look like they're dripping burgery goodness right out of your TV screen.   That's bu-R-gery goodness you sickos.   So in JW's travels for work, he was lucky enough to stop at the Red Mill for lunch!  Check it out.  I missed out on this one.  And is that a SHAKE?  Oh I was so jealous!  Aren't you?!

Ahem ... your blonde is showing.

Doggone it, Kelly.  So about three years ago or so, I was watching Bones, which I love, and they had the most wonderful song on the episode - I had to find it.  So after a lot of waiting, finally it was up on the show's website.  The song was "Bring on the Wonder" by ... who I thought was a woman by the name of Susan Enan Feat.  Until yesterday I still was desperately trying to find this song, searching google, searching Itunes, searching Pandora... finally yesterday I found the Bones soundtrack in Itunes and LOW AND BEHOLD, there it was.  The song "Bring on the Wonder" IS by Susan Enan... however the "Feat" was short for "featuring... Sarah McLaughlan.  The damn website cut it off, all those years ago... and all this time I've been looking for a lady named Feat.  Well.
